King Samuel is among the most famous rulers in Bulgarian history. He remains in the chronicles with his tragic death, when his heart did not endure at the sight of the tens of thousands of soldiers captured and blinded by the Byzantines. His forbidden love for the beautiful Biljana, which became the cause of her death, was sung by the people, and one of the most famous of them. Bulgarian writers - Dimitar Talev dedicated a whole trilogy to her.

The Legend of King Samuel is the work of the artist Vassil Goranov. In time Goranov clearly outlines the lines of his creative appearance and predominance in him takes the historical and military theme. The paintings of the artist in the style of historical romanticism are beautiful textbooks on history and covers of scientific works.
