This cover recreates the cover of a 1846 edition combining two founding texts of the genre of Picaresque "Gil Blas" by French writer Alain-Rene Lessage and the anonymous Spanish novel Lazarillo de Torres. It is from the latter that comes the very term "Picaresca" (from Picaresca - cunning), which denotes stories of witty characters by the people surviving in a world marked by social injustice.
The Paper Blancs Picaresque series honors these eternal images and the literary genre, which changes the way we tell stories about outsiders with a big heart.
