Gerald Darrell was born in India in 1925, but three years later his family moved to England, and after three more settled on Corfu. It is to this blessed island of nature that young Gerald unfolds his gifts as a naturalist, transforms the family home into a zoo and devotes himself entirely to the study of the local fauna in particular and all living in general.
