Emilian Stanev (1907 - 1979) was born in Veliko Tarnovo.
He follows briefly at the Art Academy and then at the Free University in Sofia.
In 1944, he went on his own as a hunting officer in the Albanian Balkan.
He is the author of some of the best Bulgarian books for children:

"My main goal, " writes Emilian Stanev, "is to delight the little reader and enrich his associations.
In this way I try to present to children nature and animals without changing the basic nature
the phenomena and characteristics of animals. I do not tell them which of these animals is good and what is evil - the children will decide that better than me."
