Atoms, molecules and ions are building blocks of the substances. The atom has a nucleus and a shell. In the nucleus there are protons and neutrons, and in the shell-electronics. The atom is generally electron-neutral because the number of protons in the nucleus is equal to the number of electrons in the shell. Atoms are chemically non-compatible. For each chemical element, atoms are of the same element. The atoms can't exist for a long time in a free state- they bond with each other and form molecules. The molecules consist of identical or different atoms. They can exist as free particles for a long time. The simple ions are atoms that take or donate electrons. They have changed electrons. The atoms, molecules and ions are in continuous motion.
